Additional Info

ISBN:

If you publish a memoir or other book to sell through retailers (including online) you may need an ISBN – the 13 digit number that appears on the back of published books. The current cost for providing and registering the ISBN number and the barcode is around £125.

British Library:

If you publish a book for wider distribution (other than friends and family) you will need to send a copy to the British Library. Five other major UK libraries may also ask for a copy. This system is called ‘legal deposit’ and has been a part of English law since 1662.

Legal Matters:

When you publish a book, the content of your publication must told in good faith, without malice and must, to the best of your knowledge, be a true and accurate representation of events. Mandy Bloom takes no responsibility for any legal issues arising from your narrative such as libel.

Payment:

Is due in instalments. You will be invoiced for these once the work from each meeting is completed, and prior to the next meeting. Terms are 14 days from date of invoice. I accept BACS or cheque.

Printing:

  • The cost of printing is not included in the Pay-Per-Visit fee and depends on the specification including the size of the book and the quantity ordered.
  • The invoices for all instalments must be settled before your book is sent to print.

Curtailment:

Clients are free to put their story ‘on hold’ at any time and for any reason, subject to payment being received for any interviews that have already taken place.

Instructions:

Instructions regarding the content of your book can only be accepted from one member of any family or organisation; you will be asked to nominate this person in advance.

Checking/Proof-Reading:

You are responsible for checking and approving the Final Draft before you publish a book.
